The VSE Career Centre volunteer program is an important and integral part of the work that we do. BIE students gain practical experience by working under one or more portfolios. We seek driven individuals who are interested in helping with the career centre’s growth, program development, business development, marketing, data analytics, peer advising/coaching, and more. With the large variety of projects to participate in, you will have the opportunity to play to your strengths as well as branch out and expand your skill set.
VSE Career Centre volunteers are expected to dedicate 6-8 hours of their time per week to assist at the centre, and we work flexibly with you to accommodate your schedule. You will be provided with an orientation session, initial and ongoing training, as well as, mentorship through regular team meetings and interactions with your direct supervisors. Often, our volunteers participate in our Emotional Intelligence Group Coaching and are encouraged to use our resources for their personal and professional development. While some of the work that volunteers take on requires the ability to take personal initiative and being able to work with minimal supervision, other types of work require a collaborative approach with other team members.
If you would like to volunteer with us, please email vse.career@ubc.ca with the subject line VSE Career Centre Volunteer, a description of your interests, and a copy of your resume attached.
